2025: Honda Civic Hatchback Hybrid Emerges as Genuine Challenger to Prius Dominance
Honda has long been searching for a suitable rival to the popular Toyota Prius hybrid, but their previous offerings, such as the hybrid-only Insight and the hybrid Civic sedans,
were unable to match the Prius's sales numbers. However, Honda is confident that they can finally establish a contender with the release of the 2025 Civic Hatchback Hybrid. This new modelbuilds on the impressive features and performance of the previously released Hybrid sedan and packages it in a slightly more versatile hatchback body style.

The 2025 Honda Civic Hatchback Hybrid shares the same 200-hp powertrain, sleek design, and exhilarating driving dynamics as its sedan counterpart.
While the profile is similar, the hatchback provides an impressive boost in cargo space, providing 25 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats as compared to the sedan's 15-cubic-foot trunk,and the rear seats can be lowered for additional cargo space. In contrast, the Prius offers between 20 to 24 cubic feet of space underneath its hatchback.

While we have not yet tested the hybrid hatchback model, we expect it to deliver a performance similar to that of the hybrid sedan, which boasts quick acceleration,
reaching 60 mph in 6.2 seconds and delivering 47 mpg on the highway. The Civic Hybrid Hatchback's 50-mpg EPA city rating is identical to the sedan's, but the hatchback's
highway estimate is 2 mpg lower, and its combined rating is 1 mpg lower. Nevertheless, it is still highly efficient and delivers impressive fuel efficiency.
With these advanced features, the 2025 Honda Civic Hatchback Hybrid is ready to take on the Toyota Prius and other hybrid competitors.
